What is SATA (SerialATA)- Serial Advanced Technology Attachment

SATA stands for Serial Advanced Technology Attachment. Hard Drives को computers से connect करने का standard hardware interface है जैसे की इसके नाम से पता चल रहा है, यह serial signalling टेक्नोलॉजी पर based है जबकि IDE (Integrated Drive Electronics) hard drives जो की बहुत popular थी वह parallel सिग्नलिंग को use करती थी | SerialATA का SATA 1.0 सबसे पहले August 2001 मे लांच किया गया था जो की Parallel ATA interface का replacement माना गया |

यह ATA and ATAPI devices के लिए backwards-compatible है इसकी केबल more flexible, thinner, small and less massive होती है compare to ribbon cables in conventional PATA hard drives (see picture) |

अलग अलग टाइम मे SATA के अलग अलग upgrade versions launch किये गए - जानिए उनकी speed एवं Year -

SATA के सभी versions (up to 3.2) मे maximum cable length "1 m " तक support करती है |

Sata 1.0a - January 2003 : Speed - (1.5 Gbit/s, 150 MB/s)

SATA 2.0 - April 2004 : Speed (3 Gbit/s, 300 MB/s)

SATA 3.0 - July 2008 : Speed (6 Gbit/s, 600 MB/s)

SATA 3.2 - August 2013 : Speed (16 Gbit/s, 1969 MB/s)
